Thrust ball bearings are a combination of shaft locating washer, housing locating washer, and ball and cage thrust assemblies. Thrust ball bearings are designed to specifically carry axial loads, but must not be subjected to any radial loads. They are available in single direction and double directions.
Single Direction Thrust Ball Bearings
Single direction thrust ball bearings consist of one shaft washer, one housing washer, and one set of roller and cage assemblies. It is designed to be separable, the washer and the ball and cage assemblies can be mounted separately, so that the mounting can be done easily. Some smaller sizes of the bearings are available with options of flat washer or spherical housing washer. Spherical seat washer can be applied together with spherical housing washer in order to compensate shaft deflection or misalignment.
Double Directions Thrust Ball Bearings
Double direction thrust ball bearings consist of one shaft washer, two housing washers and two sets of ball and cage assemblies. Similarly to single direction bearings, the bearings are separable and mounting can be done easily. Again, some smaller sizes of the bearings are available with options of flat washer or spherical housing washers. Spherical seat washer can be applied together with spherical housing washer in order to compensate shaft deflection or misalignment. Double direction thrust ball bearings have capability to carry axial loads acting in both directions. But they must not subject to any radial loads.
